2020 Tee Ball & Coach Pitch Seasons are Canceled

On behalf of the Andover Little League Board of Directors, I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. The entire Board of Directors appreciates your patience during this challenging time.

Given the recent directions provided by local and state leadership, the Board of Directors has decided to shift our focus to playing in the early summer. We will continue to work with the Governor’s Office and the Town of Andover to pursue a summer baseball season.

However, our highest priority remains safeguarding our players and the entire community. We are sorry to announce the cancelation of the 2020 Tee Ball and Coach Pitch seasons. We believe this is a prudent decision given the difficulty of social distancing for these age groups.

For those registered for either of these programs you have the following options:

· A refund
· Have your money applied to the 2021 season (with your registration paid in full), or
· Convert it to a charitable donation to Andover Little League.

Please email [email protected] to determine which of these options you would like to select.

The Board of Directors remains hopeful that we will have options for the remaining divisions: Single A, AA, AAA, Majors, and Big Diamond. Governor Baker announced a four-phase initiative to get the Commonwealth to a new normal. (See: Reopening Massachusetts). Under this paradigm, it appears that the earliest season start would be at the end of June.

Having a 2020 baseball season, however late, is a great way to get the kids back to a normal routine and provide an example of resilience. But, again, our priority is safety.

In the interim, we will send a questionnaire to the parents of players in the remaining divisions to gauge your athletes interest in a potentially abbreviated summer season. This feedback will provide the Board of Directors with additional guidance on developing appropriate summer baseball options for the children.

If we get the chance to play this summer, we will be ready. If not, I assure you that the Board of Directors and moreover the entire Andover Little Community will do exactly what sports has trained us to do: when we get knocked down . . . we get back up and keep moving towards our goal. Our goal in this case is to play baseball - even if it’s as late as 2021!
